Hi everyone. I am still at beginner level with Access Databases, however I am trying to do something that I just don't know how to or if it can even be done.

Here's an example of what I want to do....I have a music database with information regarding artists, albums, etc... In the artists table containing already selected artists , their name is connected to a specific music category (genre), etc..

On the form I use to input a new record into the database, I select the artist name and the music category changes automatically to what is already set for that particular artist's music category, in the artists table.

E.g. I select Beyonce's name in the form and the music category will change to "R&B, Hip-Hop, Pop" or whatever.

Is that possible and if so, how do I go about doing something like this? If you don't understand what I am trying to say I can try to elaborate a bit more...

Ok remember I'm new at this still so what's in there is more less like Greek :(

What does he mean by "Fill fields automatically doesn't require ANY code!!!"

So then how do you get it to work?

i would suggest a slightly different design.

it is possible for an artist to record in different styles, even on the same album. i would put the style or genre either in the Recording table or in the Track table, not with the Artist. (Artists are so fickle  ).

if you keep the design as it is, you don't have to do anything at all when you select an artist: you've already connected the style to the Artist. if you want to see the genre at the same time that you select an Artist, create a query with both the Artist and Style fields and put the query behind a combo box.
