I must have missed something. Was there a part of your question somehow relevant to Microsoft Access?

Funny how this comes up from a spam post...

I am curious about how barcode scanners work with something like access.

If I buy a USB barcode scanner, everytime I scan a barcode it comes up as if I typed the numbers? Is this accurate?

If I created a database for a barcode scanner, would the user have to always tab to the correct field, then scan the item? If they were in the wrong field, and scanned it, would the information still come up?

My assumption here is that a USB scanner really just "types" out the numbers on the barcode as if it was keypressed, and Access has no way of really detecting whether it's a scanner or a keyboard entering the numbers.

Just curious, if anyone has an answer.

That is correct. To the User Interface, the barcode scanner is nothing more than a keyboard with very fast fingers; it has no real way to distinguish the inputs.
