Hi all,

I am raeting a database system for a small chain of shops, I want to implement a barcode system and I am not sure how this is done.

The database would hold the upc code (barcode) not sure how to print off the barcodes with the upc code entered into the system.

Any ideas or help ??

Just use a bar code font. You also have to to "wrap" control characters around the barcode depending on the barcode you are using.

Where do you select a barcode font ?

Hi

I downloaded the font, this font has to be installed into the computer that is printing off the barcode??

How would you u set up access to print off a ticket which holds

the product code, colour code, size, Price and UpC code ??

The font has to be installed on the PC/s using it.
Been awhile since I messed with bar codes, so bear with me. But basicly you print the bar code like anything else. But usually there are special characters wrapping the code. If you had a part number of A1234, to print the bar code it might be something like *A1234* and the bar code font specified insead of say Arial. You can do it in Word, I used Word to test my bar codes before I would create them.

Hello,

I found a shareware code 39 extended symbology (with all ascii characters) and was able to print out some barcodes after I loaded the font. I used the *text* format to allow the reader to identify the beginning and end of the barcode. I used the barcode to produce a case number in the form of AA99-99999 and a name in the form of Smith, J. When I attempted to read the barcodes, the reader successfully read the case number in every instance but I failed to properly read in the names, putting plus signs between each letter and turning the comma into a slash. There were no plus signs in front of the alpha characters used in the case number, so this is really puzzling. The reader was an intermec for code 39.

Any ideas why this might occur?

Thanks in advance if you can help !!
