Hi

I've just finished watching the series The Wire and was surprised that it only aired in the UK this year! Great show, fast paced, witty and all round entertaining.

Two more great British actors displaying their ability to pull of an American Accent - Dominic West and Clark Peters complimented an otherwise excellent cast.

This is possibly one of the best shows I've seen to date.

No one can pull it off like Hugh Laurie though.

These guys were brilliant. You would never know they were English, did you know? Hugh Laurie is just as good, agreed.

Followed the link and I will look forward to it being shown over here.

Best music video:
Thriller by Michael Jackson

Worst music video:
Black & White by Michael Jackson.

Best TV Series:
Connections

Worst TV Series:
My Mother The Car

Oh I know! I had watched House forever before I knew he didn't have a natural American accent. I think he was in Sense and Sensibility too and he didn't have many lines other than "You'll do nothing of the sort!"

I did not realize that was him!!!!!! Wow!!!!

He is a brilliant comedian, so funny in Black Adder. He and Steven Fry used to be partners, show biz partners I hasten to add. They are both extremly clever and on that note I will nominate QI as one of my favourite tv shows.

The second Black Adder series is my all time favourite, closely followed by the last one: the secret to these for me was that Rowan Atkinson was mainly the victim of others actions, rather than John Cleese in Fawlty Towers (mostly, if he didn't do something dumb in the first place, the whole premise for the episode falls to the ground)

I think my favourite was when they did the rip off of A Christmas Carol, can't fathom out why RA had to create Mr (most irritating) Bean :)

The problem with Fawlty Towers is that they didn't make enough, so you tend to watch them until they become irritating...

Agree - hate Mr Bean
I found Fawlty Towers mostly irritating at the time, although saw a great interview with JC where he explained his writing principles of getting all the threads to meet at the final scene, is it Mrs Saunders and her lost money? the best of all of them

Is Mrs Saunders the old ducky with the little dog?

Agreed, mr Bean sucks.

As far as comedy goes, Michael McIntyre had a great stand up show on a Saturday night for while there.

I think it was Mrs Richards and the lost money. It was shown here on UK Gold 2 nights ago.

Good call Oumahexi, I'll second QI as a favourite!
And I used to enjoy Fry and Laurie as well - there's something hilarious about the most disgusting swearing in an ultra-posh Cambridge accent!

As for Rowan Atkinson - did you know that he has a very bad stutter? (hence the way he pronounced 'Bob' in Blackadder, it's the only way he could get the word out).
His career started with visual comedy, and he's been trying it ever since. Does anyone remember a one-off he did in the eighties called 'Canned Laughter'? Now that was diabolical :)
The first couple of Mr.Beans were funny. It's just over-done. I think though he's having a lot of success with it all over the world - it translates well! which is why they keep coming. There's even a Mr. Bean cartoon on one of the kids channels!

The kids are welcome to Mr Bean. But I have to say Rowan Atkinson can give his face some battering. Now you mention it about the stutter, it makes sense.

I sometimes wonder if a speach impediment is a prerequisite for entertainment success - Johanathan Woss for instance...

The bonus with QI is always Alan Davidson, he's so under rated, I don't think Johnathan Creek did him too many favours.

Wow, where did you get that Wazz? I thought we had a thread like that but it looked to me like someone had been doing some housekeeping...

i just remembered it. i don't post in the cooler much but i posted in that thread and remembered and looked it up. :) noone's posted since last september. i just added a post though.

You see, you should drop by more often. Pour a cup of coffee, put your feet up and chill out for a couple of minutes :D
