I think the current systemn in the U.S. needs to be revamped. Currently a president is elected for four years and spends his swecond two years campaigning to be re-elected. So, we esentially hire him for half time work in the first term. Also, we have two senators who have been doing little senatoring this past year. Can you imagine telling your boss you would like to stop doing your work to politic for a new job - but you wanted to remain on the payroll!
So, I would give a president one eight year term. Eight straight years of doing presidential things. No pressure to get reelected. Also, senators and congressmen (persons?.. maybe we should call them congressors like senators) would have to resign their positions if they want to run. Boo hoo, if they didn't get elected maybe they would have to find a job and do something useful.

I would be willing to settle for one 6 year term.
8 with only one election is too long.

Give Senators 8 and give Congressmen 4.

It would never work of course, the TV networks would lose all that advertising money.
