Morning All,

Using Access 97, I'm trying to bind a text box to an existing form and I just can't seem to do it. Looking at the help index is absolutely no help as it recommends clicking the "record list" button (which is greyed out) or setting the "Record Source" property which isn't a property and only appears in the expression menu.

Can someone tell me how to do this please? I know its really simple but I can't figure it out. Having looked at existing databases they seem to pull the info from the "control source" field but anything I put in there seems to negate the ability to update the field in form view. Any ideas?

Could be a case of woods and trees.

When you double click the little square in the top LH corner of the form when in design mode, the form properties will be displayed.
The first field will be record source. This is where the form reads its information from. It could be a table or a query or if you click in the field and then the small button on the RHS you can build your own record source. Once you have done this the control source in yor text box will display a list of available fields.
On the other hand if you want to display a field that is somewhere else on your form, in the control source put =[nameofotherfield]
