One of my clients is still using Access 97 to run a DBMS that was written in Access v1. They (finally - whew!) want to upgrade to Office 2003, or possibly 2010. I've had a surprising amount of luck just importing it into Access 2003 - the menus, reports, etc seem to run OK. I then saved the it as a 2003 file. But every time I load the file into Access 2003, I get an error message reading:

"Your Microsoft Office Access database or project contains a missing or broken reference to the file 'BR549.OCX' version 1.0. *To ensure that your database or project works properly, you must fix this reference"

I can then open the file and it seems to work properly, although I don't know if there are any issues that I haven't encountered yet.

Does anyone know how to correct this issue?

The "help" that Access 2003 brings up indicates that it's a reference to an old DAO syntax. As I didn't write the original code, it might take a very long time to track down the problem. If so, is there an easier way to debug it?

Thanks,

S

Open the Database by holding the shift key down.

Next go to the VBA window and to TOOLS > REFERENCES and uncheck any marked MISSING. Close the dialog and then close/reopen the database and see what happens.

That did the trick. You get a big gold star.

After doing some research on converting from v1 (Access 97) to Access 2003, I was very surprised that I was able to just open/convert the DBMS file with only this single issue to correct...but then again, there may be more surprises after using it for a while, but hopefully not.

Thanks

I am amused to note that the TV Show "Hee Haw" (crude country / cornfield humor) prominently displayed telephone number BR-549 for folks who wanted to call the "Cornfield County" radio station.

Not that it has anything technical to do with the question, you understand...
