I am trying to add 4 fields and get their TOTAL.
The individual fields display the correct number, but the TOTAL of the fields is blank.

Example
Total: w + b + O + NA
which is the expression in my query. One time the Total field showed #error
W,B,O,NA are all defined as number fields in the database.
Review:
My query displays
W b O NA Total: w + b + O + NA
A total of 5 columns
The Total column shows balnk??
Any ideas?
Your help is appreciated

Jim

I did try that and even prefaced it with table name to be sure it new what table it came from
no luck still error

Thanks still trying to figure this out very weird.

Do any of your fields contain nulls? You may need to preface each field name with the NZ function to get it to work properly

W b O NA Total: nz(w,0) + nz(b,0) +nz(O,0) +nz(NA,0)

Send a short example of your MDB, (Access2000 or 2002-2003).

Yes, maybe "Nz" solve the problem if any of your variable is null.
It must be 0 or > 0.

Alan,
Thank you so much for your help. Your fix did the trick.
I am still learning Access, could you please tell me where you found nz.
How do you specify the format for a calculated field ie Length of 5 with 2 decimal places. Do you attach after name Total: (5,2) Do you know syntax.

Thanks

Jim

Thank you again for you help, I can't tell you how I appreciated your assistance.
