Not sure why MS did not replace it with something else.

They replaced it with an integrated access control. The old control was ActiveX. The replacement is a native Access control

But they provided only date picker not a calendar control. I do not think there is a calendar control that you can embed in form like mscal.

You're right. I forgot about the functionality they omitted it was so long ago. There are a number of viable replacements out there using native VBA. I still hate many of the changes made from A2003 to A2007.
