Caller ID

Hi

I have a customer database with their phone numbers, I need to run a query to filter by the phone number received from a caller ID to retrieve the customer's records once the phone rings and before I answer. please give me some steps on what needs to be done. I have XP pro and office 2007 and VS2008.

do it anyway you want. how does the ID connect? does it have a cord? do you plug it into the machine? the wall? can you do it automatically with API code? or will you have to look at the number comming in and type it in a parameter box in a query?

answer these, and then SEARCH google. why can't you do that?


I have never had a called ID, so what I would really do in a situation like this is have an excel sheet with thousands of records on it, have a unique name or number to ID customers by when they call in, and then (like what I do now with 10 different sheets!), press CTRL+F to find their name on the multi selected tabbed workbook!

the phone line is connected to the PC, and that is all I know.
how can I get the caller id from the phone line, I have no clue.
how would it go into access?
how would it fire an event to query the records?
too many questions. I was hoping that someone already went that road before.
