:( I tried to use MDE Design to edit reports but get the error "Requested type library or wizard is not a VBA project".

But if I edit it with MDE Unlocker demo I can make the changes, but full MDE Unlocker is not available more.

How can I fix that error or where can I find the full software?

Regards,

One man army desperate.

have you tried googling 'mde unlocker'? A number of sites come up. However no idea if any of them work. If your demo version works, why do you need the full version?

The vendor recommends their restoration service or if you are a registered user you can download v3.2 - and looks like you can still download a demo version

Of course, MDE files are intended to be not editable. You should be working on the original MDB file if you have it

I also downloaded the demo version of MDE Unlocker some time ago.
It will allow you to make design changes to forms & reports BUT crucially it will NOT recover the code from an MDE - it remains in a compiled state.
In addition it does NOT work with ACCDE files which have a far higher level of security

The MDE Unlocker product was withdrawn from sale when the same company launched its full recovery service for both MDE & ACCDE files.
That is meant to be very good ... but it isn't cheap!

I've never heard of MDE Design - is that another MDE recovery application?

No we dont have MDB file... Sometimes happens. And also it's an old software.

The MDE Unlocker demo is nice, but changes the captions with "(demo)" text at lock and unlock MDE file. It is not for sale now and the recovery service is not cheap.

MDE Design is other software but the software is not as good as the other.

Nobody in this forum bought the MDE Unlocker?

I don't think many people are aware MDE Unlocker is still available to download.
I did download the trial version of MDE Design but can't actually do anything unless I pay for it

I think you have 3 choices
a) Use MDE unlocker (or MDE Design)to make the design of forms & reports editable, export to a new file & redo all the code
b) pay EverythingAccess to reverse engineer it (expensive)
c) rebuild it yourself as a completely new database

If its a very old app, the chances are you'll want to change it all anyway so personally I'd forget b)

Good luck

No we dont have MDB file... Sometimes happens.

True enough. However, your problem is simple. Sometimes there IS no path from A to B when the only remaining bridge has washed out on you (figuratively speaking, of course.)

Sadly, I cannot offer assistance either. I do not have the software you seek.

Perhaps this will be an object lesson in proper archiving of project files for future applications. Always keep the MDB (or ACCDB) handy so that you will be able to develop new abilities as time goes on (and you gain more experience in what the application needs.)
