Cannot change page width in report

I have a new report with many fields, which the report wizard made 21 inches wide. I have now adjusted the fields and would like to reduce the page width to standard. But each time I 'grab' the right edge to try to reduce the page width, it bounces back to 21 inches wide. How do I reduce the page width?

Something is still extended all the way out. Look out for lines that may be hiding.

you can click the warning box in the upper left hand corner of the report and select the farthest right object. this will show you what is too far extended
