Hey all,

I have a swollen database on our server, with a table in it, that might be linked to, by other people/databases.

I cannot compact/repair ("Could not use H:\path\database.mdb; file is already in use.")
I cannot open it exclusively ("Another user has the database open, or you do not have the permissions...")
I cannot or move/rename it ("Sharing Violation; source or destination file might be in use")

There is no one IN the database itself when I try to compact/open exclusive/rename (.ldb check and api login check too).

Surely this isnt because of the linked table, right? How can I compact this?

Once in a while, I still get an ldb file active. It especially seems to happen after a problem -- PC hung-up, screen frozen, etc. Sometimes, all that you need to do is to go into and then out of the database.

Also, once in a while, a backup utility stops (usually cause it wants a second tape) and the file that is opened is not available. In that case, your admin needs to put in the next tape or 'kill' the backup.
