Cannot Database Window as a normal view window

I need to amend a query. But when I click the button on the toolbar to open the Database Window, it does not open as a normal window, in fact no window opens at all - all I get is a button on the taskbar which does not open a "normal" window.

(If I choose maximise on the toolbar button it does show the Database Window as maximised.)

Strange. Has anyone else had this? Is there a way round it? Guess it will be something I am doing - but I cannot what.

Maybe it is taking a long time for the query to present itself or perhaps you are working on a slow network and maybe your database is corrupted.
