Does this sound like a corruption problem?

I added a new field to a table, and saved the table. When the table is reopened, the new field is not there! I thought perhaps I forgot to save the field, so I tried adding the field again. When saving, the error said, "cannot save; duplicate field name".

If I go to tools\options and click the "show system objects" the field will show up??

Do you think the best course of action is to import all the objects into a new db and try again?

Thanks for your help.

Do you have the "hidden" property turned on for that table?
Did you prefix your table name with "MSys"?
Have your compacted/repaired your db?

Thanks for the reply.

*The hidden property is off for the table.
*The table is not named with the MSys prefix ( the table name is tblLWR)
*Compact repair seems to work fine but is not fixing the problem.

Does it sound it's a problem with Access itself? (maybe some program files were deleted?)

I'm really at a loss.

Thanks for your help.

Is it the field or the table that is hidden?

Are you sure all columns fields are unhidden?

Can you see the field in the design view of the table?

Can you post your db with the table in question?

Is it the field or the table that is hidden? The newly added fields are hidden.

Are you sure all columns fields are unhidden? I think so. I'm looking at the table in design view mostly, and that is where the fields won't show up.

Can you see the field in the design view of the table? I can only see the fields if I go to tools\options and on the "View" tab, click the box next to "show system objects"

Can you post your db with the table in question? It's a 55meg db. I'll clean out the data and try posting it, or at least part of it.

Thanks again,
Mary
