Carry current value of a control to new records

I have a record in a form that has 3 fields, [name], [Line], & [asset number] and a series of check boxes. Is there a way of hitting an "add new record" button that will open a new record with the current values in the [name], [Line], & [asset number] of the record i clicked from but leaving all the check boxes blank. I don't want to duplicate the check box values just the three fields to save me having to manually type them in as I have hundreds of documents, and each of those requires a seperate record but they are all for the same [name], [Line], & [asset number]?
