I've been asked to create a cd management system for a company. They want to store all their CDs in a databse. Fields are obvious, but for every compilation, they want a marker on each artist. Compilations are stored in title order.

I've done the artists databse, but am just confused as how to get a marker for each compilation on each artist.

I'm guessing by "marker" you are wanting to make a reference that in an artist's back catalogue, the compilation album is included.

To do this, you'll need to make a junction table as Access doesn't directly support many-to-many relationships - as one artist can have many albums and one album can have many artists.

Create a new table and include the primary key of your Artist table, and the primary key of your CD table - ensure they are related.

This new table will now allow you to have numerous artists on compilation CDs and will still let you have one artist to a CD for typical albums.

For more information, try searching for junction tables and many to many.
