I would like to change the colour of the excel icon when it is minimised and a checkbox on the worksheet has been ticked. this will let me know the status of a checkbox and macro

thank you

Which icon are you talking about? One representing a specific file, or the Excel shortcut icon on your desktop or elsewhere?

Either way, I don't think it's possible - the icons you see for files and programs are set by the file association - so changing it for one would change it for all other files of that type.

I'm talking about the the "icon" that appears in the task bar once the Excel program, not just the workbook has been mimimised. I would like to have it a different colour then normal if a check box has been ticked, or have it differnt to normal if at all possible. I need a visual reminder that a check box has been ticked.
May be I'm approaching this wrong. If the check box is ticked the clock on the worksheet is stopped. If the workbook is then minimised the user in this case me today may not get a warning message at the right time. Perhasp I should pevent excel being mimimised if the checkbox is ticked.

I'm not sure that what you want to do can be accomplished without some tricky Windows API programming (that I am not qualified or experienced enough to advise on).

But it sounds like maybe Excel just isn't the right tool for the task you're performing. Seems like you need a proper desktop application to perform this function, rather than a spreadsheet.
