Change field format from form at runtime

I would like to have 6 generic bound fields on a form with labels. What is the smartest way to allow the user to change the label caption and the format of the field bound thru the textbox ie I may have set up the field as text format but the user would like to make it a double integer field. Likewise, the label caption would be changed to whatever the user wants to label it as.
