Changing color in a field

Is there a way to change color on a field based on another field. I have a field called [closed] once a user enter data i n that fiel i want it to go to another field called [color] and make it the color red. if the user go back and delete the data i want the color to go away. I tried working on this by myself but it's not working. i only want this to work on current record and not all record.
