hello guys,

firstly thanks to all the guys here without whose help, I would not have been able to finish my database. However, there remains one question to which I havent found a satisfactory answer. I have checked through all the threads here.

I have made an .mde for my application and I want to customize my application icon to my company icon. The DB by default shows the access icon which I would like to change.

The threads here deal with issues of changing the desktop shortcut icon or changing the icon for forms. These threads do not address the problem I am facing.

I want the icon to be changed from access icon to a customized icon.
I am using MS access 97.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. If there is a thread which I may have overlooked, plz point me out.
Thanks in advance
FXP.

Look in the db "Startup" options where you can customize the name and icon of the app [and a whole more options].

Ghudson,

Thanks for your reply. I have already tried changing the application icon in the "startup" menu. All it does is change the icon in the title bar of the DB while the icon of the DB in my C: drive still shows MS Access .
I want the application icon to change so that the application shows my company icon and when I send it to my clients, it does not show up on their computers as a MS Access application.

Am I doing something wrong? I hope I am phrasing my questions right.
Thanks and hope I can get a solution to this problem soon.

Regards

What you need to do is send the 'ico' file and the shortcut (which is configured to use your 'ico' file) with the mde file to your clients and create some form of install procedure that copies all files to the relevant folders.

Can anyone gimme a proper procedure??
I am not too great at programming. Maybe some one has done this thing before?? Would appreciate any help.

Thanks

Do you want the "YourDatabase.mdb" file to show your custom icon when the user is browsing files in Windows Explorer? If so, then that would require a registry change on the users computer and it would affect ALL .mdb files on the users computer.

If you want to change the icon for a custom shortcut then you just need to right click on your custom shortcut, select the properties option and click the change icon button. You will have to include the selected icon when you package your database so that the users computer will find the custom icon you have selected for your custom shortcut.
