I am posting this in the General Forum because it applies to Microsoft Access itself and not any of the other aspects covered by the individual forums.

My users are requesting that I modify the Microsoft Access “Find and Replace” actions to change the default settings as follows

Match Section:

FROM “Whole Field” TO “Any Part of Field

Search Section:

FROM “All” TO “Down

I have determined (by searching the forum :D) that I can change the Match Section value by using the MS Access Tools Menu (Tools/Options/”Edit/Find Tab” and switching from “Fast Search” to “General Search”, and although this is a user specific change that will need to be made at each user's workstation, the users are willing to accept this change until another option is available.

I have not yet located a way to change the “Search Section” value from “All” to “Down” in the Options Tab, nor have I located any posts in this forum (yet). Has anyone else ever had a request to do this? Am I missing something else in the Options Tab?

Any comments or suggestions on either of these problems would be appreciated.

It looks like a replacement Macro might be a good start toward what I want. The problem that I have is two-fold. First, I am not yet very proficient with Macro Coding. Second, the users tend to choose the "Find and Replace" option to search for values in nearly every field where searching is an option, so I would need to have a way for any replacement Macro to always be the default action for the Control F command.

Thanks for a good beginning. My quest continues if there are other comments or ideas.
