We went to a consignment auction on the weekend - great shopping opportunity - paying $1 for items which some chain stores could not flog for $30 or more...

If only people would be fair... I dont mind a butcher making some money. I do mind the butcher making $500.000 per year.
I.e. companies like Shell "only made" $1.1 billion dollar profit this year vs 10 billion last year... (dont worry about the exact numbers) Come on what are we talking about?

The trouble is that it would require everyone to adhere to such a scheme of fairness.
Basically, once any company does something that tangibly increases its profitability, its competitors have to do the same or better just to stay in the game.

The point or trouble is that this is all a farce...
I.e. Commercials, who doesnt hate commercials?
Yet they are payed for by? Yes us.... by paying a surplus on top of the normal retail price to cover the commercial cost of marketing.

Then again Marketing is a whole business in its self, less commercials, less employment, less wealth, yet lower prices so less wealth needed...
