Check boxes in forms

As I understand it, you can put unbound check boxes in forms. I want to add a number of check boxes to a form (which incidentally, is accessed via a command button from another form). These are merely for the user to indicated that a project is completed. As there are a number of projects I have not put a "yes/no" field in the underlying table. When the check box is checked and the form closed, the box becomes unchecked again. Where am I going wrong?

You can put unbound checkbox in a form, but they will never remember your previous choice. They need to be bound to remember it, as your answer will be written in the table.
