Hello everyone,

I am kind new to Access.

I am working in a asset management. How do I go about doing the check in and out. I would like to able to see who has the asset and when it was taken.

What would be the best way to do that?

Thanks in Advance

Hi

An option would be to have a log table with fields say-

LodID - Autonumber
AssetId - number
UserID - number
Modified - date

You could then update the table whenever the asset is updated.

A query could then be generated to view the activity by either

User
Asset
Date

Etc

You will need a table to store your assets (tblAsset) and a table to store the checkin/checkout of a particular asset.

tblAsset
AID
AssetName
etc....

tblAssetCheckinCheckOut
ACICOID
AID
CheckOutBy
CheckOutDate
CheckInBy
CheckInDate
etc.....

Thank you very much for the quick replies,

Let me see if I understand this correctly.
Once I have the both tables up and running, will I be able to open a form with the John Doe's name, pick whatever assets he needs and click a bottom, and they would be checked out?

I guess my biggest problem here is to link between the tables Checked and Asset_List.

Any more suggestions?
Thanks!
