I have a textbox that is for an aircraft number (e.g. 33,38,41,36) No letters just numbers. Sometimes my pilots will enter a flight time in that block regardless how I label it (even by placing an example, like above, next to it. Don't ask it just happens.

So when they enter a flight time it is in the form of 5.6 or 4.2 etc. Is there a way to check my aircraft number textbox for the punctuation that way I can alert them with a message?

In the Before Update event of the aircraft number event:

Code:
If Val(Me.txtAircraftNumber) <> Int(Val(Me.txtAircraftNumber)) Then
     MsgBox "Invalid Entry. Please Enter Aircraft Number"
     Cancel = True
End If

Would an Input Mask do the job?

An additional thought. Are you sure your form requests information in the order, form, and jargon PILOTS are used to? To be successful, an application must "speak" the user's language not the developer's. Soliciting their input for the layout and language of forms will do wonders. Even if they change nothing, they will be more likely to accept the application as a solution instead of an additional problem. Caution, this will eliminate the need for idiot proofing.

I'm sure I am using the correct jargon, as I'm a pilot as well. It's funny how we are as pilots. It is a bit of an ego thing, we think we know what is wanted and instead of asking or "READING" they fill it in and drive on.

Thanks for the help I will implement this today.

Just as an aside, I've got to tell you it's kind of scary to think pilots of the complicated planes of today pay so little attention to details!

I feel I must respond to this one. Ok, let me clarify. When it comes to things other than our job (flying) we assume we know it better than we really do. I am using "we" very loosly as not all are the same of course.
