Checking if a form is about to be updated

Hi Everyone

I have a database that holds all or our students details. It is on our network and is shared by several tutors. It has come to my notice that some tutors who are new to the database are accidentally overwriting other tutors records.

Is there a way to check to if any of the controls on a form are about to be edited so that I can trigger an appropriate message that they may be about to overwrite someone else's work.

I cant just lock the form from editing as some of the records need updating on a regular basis by the person who created them.

The BeforeUpdate event of controls and forms occurs just before the change.
