combine text - can't find fields

I am getting used to Access 2007. I have a text box in a Report that I want to combine (concatenate) fields in. I get an error message saying that Access can't find the fields. I'm going a little crazy because I have done this many time before.

If I put just one fieldName in a text box Access finds the field just fine, so there is no misspelling issue.

The text box is in the detail section of the report.
This is what I am typing into the text box:[fieldName1]&", "&[fieldName2]

Any ideas? Thanks

You would need to precede that with an equals sign:

=[fieldName1] & ", " & [fieldName2]

Thanks. That worked. I thought I had tried that. Guess I really am going crazy.
