I have a combo box that is supposed to find a record on my form based on the value that i select. However, when I choose the item from the combo box, the rest of the fields do not fill with the information. when i go back to design view, then immediately go back to form view, make the selection, the recordset shows up in the form.

HELP!!

Anyone know how to solve this issue as the users won't be able to keep switching when they need to.

Try putting Me.Recalc in the AfterUpdate event.

IMO

Tried that, but it didnt work. I have also tried me.requery hoping that maybe that might work.

Hi

You need to requery the recordset after selecting from the combo box.

on the forms on current event create an event procedure and use the commmand

me.requery

this should do it

tried that one too! I have used this same type of combo box on other forms and they work fine. This is the only one that doesnt show the recordset unless you go back to design view and then return to form view.

Have you tried deleting it and creating a new one?

IMO

You should not use Requery in the Form_Current event, you'll create an endless loop

i have deleted it and recreated it numerous times. I have thought about deleting the form and recreating it as well.

...also, the requery did not work so it is not being used.

Can you post a stripped down version?

IMO

oops sorry

Rich is right, requery should go on the after update event of the combo box.

creating a new form and copying everything over is a good move, this often works when the error is just plain silly. Also if things are going wrong in an unexplained way, I take a copy quick, so I don't loose my work when access decides to throw a wobbly. I speak from experience.

ok as i was making the stripped down version something strange occured. I could open the form and it would work fine!! Make me angry. So I went back to the original and it still would not work. It seems that if I open the form right from Access window it will work, but if I open it from the Switchboard it will not work.

Or are you opening the form in add mode, this means you can't update anything, you need to use edit mode .

Sue

i have a stripped down copy but the file is still too big.

I FOUND IT!! It was in the switchboard all right. Thank you, Rich. I had the command in the swithboard table set to '2' which is
add. I changed it to 3 and now it allows the recordset to show in the tables. Again thank you Rich!
