Combo Box not accepting values?

Basically i've created a table called VAT holding 2 records of VAT rates. I've created two records in a combo box . In my form these records appear in my drop down list, however when i select either value the actual field value remains on naught.

Am i missing something really simple here?

Where are these records coming from?

Value List, Table List, SQL procedure, etc?

Is your column count set to 1.
