Combo box pops up parameter table

I have set up a Combo box,which has selection criteria in it which it will select.
Properties has been set to run a Query on dblclik.
However when I dbleclick run the combobox selection it pops up dialogue box.
If I enter the criteria in the box it finds the data ok
BUT why wont it select the criteria chosen on dbleclick
I have tried all sorts of parameters in the query criteria field all to no avail.
If i just leave [combobox1]as the criteria like i said it works as above.
Howver i would like to automate it
Any ideas pls
