Combo box problem

I have a form that has a combo box to lookup a record in a form, works fine until i changed the form's properties to "no" on the allow edit, deletions, additions.
I want a form that basicly is read-only but i want the user to be able to use the combo box to look up an existing record.
Anyone know how to make this work?

How about taking each of the controls on the form (except for the combo box) and changing their locked property to Yes.

Thanks guys, i think i will go with RichO idea cause i think with a snapshot it is not updateable. I have two groups; one will be adding records while the other is viewing only. They don't want to set up user level security so i built two forms; one with regular form properties and the other will have the form with the lock fields. Thanks again for your help.
