Combo box...this should be easy

Any idea on how to show the first item in a combobox without clicking. Right now the combobox loads into the form with the textarea blank, I would like that to show the first value instead.

that is sort of the problem i am having. I guess i should explain myself much better. the combo box is loading from a query and then filling in the rest of the form based on the information in the combo box. the information in the combo box is to appear in alphabetical order (last names) and since the first last name is Ames, I cannot hard code this incase someone with the last name Abel wants to become a fisherman!!

In the Default Value of the combo put....

=DMin("[MyField]","MyTable")

use your [field] name and "table" or "query" name
