I put a combo box in my form on my field called categories

How can I get a parameter box to open and be the combo box
when I do a query or report
For example, instead of entering the category, have the combo box pop up in case one doesn't know the categories...

In your query under the categories field put the criteria forms![frmname]![comboname] so that the query looks for a value selected in your combo box. You can either open your query upon selection from your combo box or the report so long as it's based on the query.

did as you suggested I now have a combo box on my form but can't get it on my query or to open the parameter on my report or query

I did the query and put in [forms]![my frmname]![my combo box name] in the criteria of the category field. I based a report on the query

When I go to open the report, I get the combo box but then I must enter the category from the drop down box

Is there q way to get the report to open from the combo box

If you want the report to open upon selection from the combo box, put this on click of the combo.

DoCmd.OpenReport "reportname", acPreview
