I have 4 tables, each dedicated to a different level of personel. These need to be discreet! The other functions that I use them for wont work if they are all in one table. I need to generate either one of the following:

1) Either a list of all of their names, pulling from each table. I've tried various "SELECT FROM" SQL statements to no avail.

2) The cascading combo box option (ideal option) whereby dependant upon a previous box describing the type of personel (same name as associated table), the relevant list of names appears. I'm not the best at cascading combos at the best of times, but I can get them to work. This, however, I can't as it braches accross several tables!

That's excessive. You should only need two tables: one for personnel, and one for personnel types.

ie..

tblPersonnel
PersonnelID - Autonumber; primary key
Forename - Text
Surname - Text
PersonnelTypeID - Number
other info dependant upon the personnel

tblPersonnelTypes
PersonnelTypeID - Autonumber; primary key
PersonnelType - Text

In the relationships you can now relate the two PersonnelTypeID fields, and Cascade Deletes.

What happens if someone moves from one level to another?

and

What are the other functions that won't work if the personnel are in one table?
