Command Button

I first opened the toolbox in design view of a form. Then I clicked on the command button and dragged a new button onto the form. Normally when I finish this step, MS Access automatically prompts me to select an event such as running a macro. I'm not being prompted, I simply have a button with no underlying event.

Why is the automatic prompt not happening when I create the command button ?
