Compact/repair Database

Hi,
I have a split database
front.mdb
back.mdb

Does anyone know how to run the compact command from the front end interface that will acually compress the data at the back?

For Access 2000 and 2002 set the compact on close option on the backend will compact the backend on closing the front end.
