Hi All,

I can use some help with a jumping off poit.

*Please see attached file*

I have 2 tables tblSFDC and tblTheCall

tblSFDC (contact information) includes CustID (primary key) and a memo field "Notes"

tblTheCall (call information) includes CustID (relates to tblSFDC) and "activity data fields" ie "Live", Left Message" , Sent email".

tblTheCall may in some cases have multiple records for each CustID

I need to :
Concatenate from tblTheCall Field Names and field values (that are not null)
Insert into tblSFDC.Notes
Where tblTheCall.CustID = tblSFDC.CustID

*Please see attached file*
TIA

As Simon Cowell, from American Idol, says - "I'm not trying to be rude, but..."

Why in the world would you need to put something in another field that you can pull together in a query? It flies against everything Relational Databases stand for. That's not to say it can't be done, but it seems like wasted effort.

You can concatenate the information logically without doing so physically if you consider the two records to have the same call reference and make them part of a one-to-many relationship. They can appear together without being PUT together.

Hi Guys,
Thank you for your responses.
I was only using the data within my application I would be fine but...
The end result of this is exporting the data into Excel. From Excel, the data will evenetually be imported into othere non Access applications.

As Doc and Bob said, you can put the data together logically in a query and you can export the results of a query to Excel. No real reason to combine them physically.

Hi Rural...
I guess this where I'm having the trouble...
I am able to bring the data together...
The trouble I am having is getting "multiple Records" (with the same ID) into one new record.

See if you can make use of the Conc() function posted in this thread. At least it might give you some ideas.

Hi Rural.
At first glance this 'seems' to be a great jumping off point...
I will take a closer look & post the results.
Thank you
