conditionally writing to different tables

Hello,
How do I use a user's selection to base what table to write to? Basically, my main form has general questions, and based on what item the user selects in one of the combobox, I would like to ask different sub-questions that are each in different tables.

Sorry, I'm not a db programmer, so this may be a really stupid question.

I'm no expert but you could have subforms on your main form which could be based on different tables. The subforms could be invisible until the combo box is updated. When the user chooses from the combo box you make visible whichever subform you need.
