i am trying to connect directly to an mde file from an intranet web page. when i click on the link, i am prompted to "save this file to disk".... i am not even given the option to open it from its current location (it is grayed out).

is there any way to have this file simply open up from its current location without asking to choose whether to save it to disk or to open it from its current location, but at the very least, is there a way to give the option to open it from its current location, instead of only allowing to save to disk?

Thanks,
Dux

When you choose to open from it's current location, you're not connecting to it, but rather just opening it in your temp files and then when you close it, your computer deletes it. I think what you are trying to do is an online database. All that you have accomplished is putting your database on the net as a file for viewing and downloading.

yes, i understand that i am just viewing the document, but in this instance, i am not even given the option to open it from its current location, it only allows me to save it. sorry, i may be out to lunch here, but is there a way to open it from its current location all of the time? i hope that makes sense.

Thanks,

I am sorry, I am very green, but am i to understand that connecting to this mde file we have created is not as simple as just linking to it on out intranet? Please advise?
