Convert a Query derived concatenated string to a Hyperlink on a form

I have a query that gathers together a number of text fields from several tables and formulates them into a directory name (a link to a particular asset's drawing). I have told the form that this control is a hyperlink but all it does is display the text (underlined and in blue). If I right click on it the address part is blank but the display text is correct. As it is a query, it won't let me even type in the address. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
