Converting split db from AC97 to AC2K (1 Viewer)

I am planning on converting the frontend of an existing db from AC97 to AC2K.

Should I convert the back end as well? What are the ramifications if I leave the backend as is in AC97 format.

If all users have Access2000 you can update everything, but if you have users using Access97 then don't update the backend.
