Converting Workgroup Security from A2000 to A2007

My workplace has an existing Access 2000 database un-split on our shared drive. The file is secured via workgroup rights and a Secure.MDW.

We have lost access to the file since upgrading to Office 2007.

We have one computer that still runs Office 2003. While trying to take out the workgroup security, I renamed the Secure.MDW and moved it out of the shared folder. When I renamed it back to "Secure.MDW" and moved it back to its original folder, I lost access to the database even via the Office 2003. In other words, I broke security access for even the Office 2003 computer when I moved and renamed Secure.MDW. Now I can't access the database at all.

Additionally, when creating a new database on this 2003 machine, Access prompts me for the admin user name and password. So even new files will be associated with this workgroup. We don't even need this workgroup.

So my questions are:
Is there a way to re-establish the original workgroup security and "Secure.MDW"?
Is there a way to hack or break the workgroup security?
Is there a way to completely delete the workgroup? This file does not need security.
What are the best procedures to convert to Access 2007?

For your computer with 2003 on it, you probably need to re-install / repair Office 2003 to fix your system.mdw file.
