hello
I want to implement the formula for the "Number of Repetitions" and "Sum of Count" columns in Access (in a query or table)
I am attaching their files
Thank you very much

Can you use words to describe your requirements so we don't have to guess and reverse engineer?

Build an aggregate query. This is basic Access functionality. Have you studied an introductory tutorial?

File in post2 won't open, not even if I change extension.

Change the file extension to .xlsx wanted to send the corresponding Excel file, but the system did not allow it, so I had to change the extension

Walk me through one specific calculation:

For Row=5, PartNum=AA02, NOTE=Ready; explain why number of repetitions=2 and Sum of Count=3.

As I said, I did change the extension and it won't open, says file is corrupted. Attach the file in a Zip folder. Use Windows Compression.

Could have included all those files in one Zip folder.

I continue to wish you would use your words rather than expect us to understand Excel functions.

Boy that was not helpful. You simply removed selected data from your initial screenshot which I have access to. You need to hold my hand verbally and explicitly describe how each value is arrived at.

Revisit my question and explain in detail how each value for the specific record I selected is calculated.

For example, AA003 is repeated four times, showing 4 in one column and numbered from one to four in the other column.

If it is done with VBA, it is not reasonable

1. AA03 was not the selected partnum I wanted to examine, AA02 was. We are paying attention to you and your issue, please pay attention to our posts.

2. Does that mean you posted incorrect data initially? Row=4, PartNum=AA01, Number of Repetitions =1, Sum of Count=1. Shouldn't they both be 2 for that record?

AA01 was wrong, sorry

Quit throwing files at us we just want you to explain your data. Here's the last of the help I am giving:

What you want for Number Of Repetitions is called a "Running Count" search this for that term and you will find the method to achieve that.

What you want for Sum Of Count, is just called Count. Here is a link to help with that:

For example, AA003 is repeated four times, showing 4 in one column and numbered from one to four in the other column
This is the data from your Excel file.

Send us an example of what you expect to see.

RowPartNumberNOTEGrade
AA01READYa
AA02NOT Readya
AA03NOT Readya
AA01NOT Readyc
AA02READYc
AA03READYc
AA03READYb
AA03NOT Readyb
AA02NOT Ready-

I make it that repetitions are:-
a x 3 times
b x 2 times
c x 3 times
- x 1 time
