I have a report which lists records (names and addresses) in groups according to districts, with a new page per group. I need to have a footer per page showing a total for the records in each group based on the first line of the address. I've tried the advice on the MS Knowledge base, but I seem to be missing something because I only get a '0' at the foot of each page.

I don't know much about Access, so would appreciate beginner language, please. :o

Try putting your =Count([Fieldname]) in the GROUP footer rather than the page footer.

Hi CBragg
That makes sense - I should have thought of that myself, shouldn't I!
But, I'm pretty clueless with Access, so could you please let me know where I can find the option to add a Group footer?
Thanks

You can add a group footer by going into design view and sorting and grouping option. In the properties under group footer change this to Yes.

You could have also set a calculated field in the detail section with the properties set to =1 and Running Sum - Over Group then put another calculated control in your group footer and set this to the name of the calculated control in your detail section under control source, this is just another way of doing it.

=Count(*) will give the number of records per group in the group footer

I meant to get back sooner but hit a busy spell at work.
I had some time today, printed this out and tried again. I've got the result I needed and I just wanted to say thanks for your help.
