Is there a simple way to put the Count of the total of records in a report into the head of a report, please, gentle Experts?

Put a textbox where you want it and put =Count(*) into the ControlSource

Brilliant, SJ. (You're not the twin of the genius Mile-O-Phile, the main subject of a biography I'm writing about Wonder Kids? There's much of the brilliance - and dare I say, native charm of the Scots foothills if not exactly the Highlands - about you too.) Much appreciated. Cheers

I'm the same person - I just had my forum name changed.

I'm almost 26; hardly a wonderkid. ;)

Counting Records

Moderator , please say if this is thread continued or should be a separate posting. I'm new to this forum (and to Access as well).

I'm using Access 2000

Similar problem. I can get the Count(*) function to work well. However, my problem is that I want to count the number of records that have, say "Smith" as the surname ( field [Surname] in the table).

Logic says to me that an unbound field with Count ([Surname]="Smith") as it's source should do the trick, but it doesn't. The help files have nothing to say on the subject.

Any suggestions, please ?

Very neat, Rich. I'll borrow that too, please. Cheers

Count(*) dosen't work

I have a report in an A2003 FE talking to a SQL server Db. I have a report and as per the MS Help guide and my own thoughts I placed =Count(*) in the Control Source of the Text box... to no avail. I tried =Count([AccountCode]) with acccountcode being a control... to no avail. Am I missing something? Obviously yes.. but what?
Thanks in advance

Count is fixed

The key is to place it in the report header or footer and not the page header!!! I am a dork!

Yep, that's right - but not your cruel assessment of yourself, of course. It's really simple to confuse these things - page and report headers, footers and all.

I've same problem, but in my case I need count report records to page header field and not in report header, so what can I do? Btw, is there a way to show report header in each page, then it propably should work? I'm talking about some sort of replacing page header with report header thing.
