I'd like to count how many times a person appears in coloumn A and how many times in coloumn B

some like this

mike 1 4
rose 3 2
etc...

how can i do that
should i even use query for this or would report with some vba work better?

You are going to have to tell us more.
Your tables? Your attempts so far?

it can be a simple test.i'd like to count how many times a person performed a procedure and how many times he assisted at it.
table procedure, columns main and assist. Mostly same person appear in both coloumns, though occasionaly one can only appear in one of them. i have a list of ppl in a separate table if needed.

i tried this, but it works strange, counts just for onecoloumn and give the same number in both

SELECT Procedure.main, Count(Procedure.Main) AS ŠtetjeodMain, Count(Procedure.assist) AS Štetjeodassist
FROM [Procedure]
GROUP BY Procedure.main;

guess štetjeod is CountOf

Sounds like ppl work on something as Main or Assist.

Also sound like you either want count for each ppl, or
count of Main and Count of Assist where the Person = one ppl?

Need more info.

i guess i have problems with explaining this, maybe this picture will help
for each person, i want to count the number of times he was the main executor (column main) and the number of times he only assisted (column assists) and represent that in a query in two separate coloumns.
