Creating a query-specific criteria

I was wondering if anybody can tell me how to specify criteria in a query. I have to run a query searching for phone and fax numbers for each invidual sate. For example, if I just wanted to run a query phone and fax numbers for washington state only, how would I exclude the other states? I forgot how to do this.

Actually, I didn't design this database (it's huge), but I have to use it. All I know is that there is a field marked "state" and that's what I put into my query. I didn't know if there's a way to isolate a certain state or not.

In the "criteria" field, I remember putting in specific criteria to do this very thing, but I can't remember what it was.
