Good morning!!

I work for a company that employees a large number of temp staff(Ranges from 300-700) I would like to be able on a daily basis to review and make changes to anyone of the temp staff.
Currently I am using excel to achieve this but I would like to use access to achieve what I am wanting.
Each day the database will be updated on who is absent and who is on holiday.

The reason I need this database is if any temp staff members attendance gets higher then 6% I need to be sending them on their way.(harsh I know but when we are dealing with so many temp workers rules must be in place)

My current setup in excel works by having a cell for each day of the year and if a person is absent I place an A in the cell, If they are on holiday I place a H in the cell. I then have a basic countif formula that counts the letters and another formula that works with todays date and the persons start date.

It works ok but I cant select the dates to be checking attendance,Because if someone has been working for us for 3 years then they will be able to take a load more absent days then someone that has been with us for 6 months.

I dont know if anyone has created something like this but I would be grateful if anyone could suggest where for me to get started.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Create a new database in MS Access.
Use menu File--Get External Data--Import, select your Excel file, follow wizard and you 'll get a table with data.
Then you have to learn MS Access feature what to do next.
