I thought I might give it a shot for some knowledgeable help. I am creating a
database that has many unrelated tables; this is for a home builder’s
interior design department. I am trying to make it easier for them to create a
spec sheet for items that a customer picks out, for example, tile, carpet,
hardwood flooring, garage floor, etc. So far I have a switchboard that brings
up a form where you can run a parameter query by either entering the id number for the item or scanning a barcode for different items. What I want to do now is create a running report of these items that they look up from the switchboard that they will be able to print out.

Right now they just look up their information that is not even in one particular
place, and takes them about 5 hours to generate one form for a house.

Sounds like you need to relate your tables, possibly by creating an orders table or an orderline table. Aswell as ID fields, it would need the foreign keys from all the other tables i.e. tiles, carpets etc.

Once this is done, you can base a report on an individual order/orderline possibly using a parameter query.
